Can Cankaya is one of the leading musicians in his generation on the Istanbul jazz scene along with his bandmates. He earned his master’s degree from William Paterson University, studied piano and ensemble with Harold Mabern, Mulgrew Miller and James Weidman. Throughout the years he performed at various international jazz festivals with world-renowned artists and recorded numerous albums as a sideman, arranger/producer and a co-leader. Can Cankaya Quartet is a meeting point for Istanbul’s most in-demand musicians such as Engin Recepogullari, Kagan Yildiz and Ferit Odman and will perform originals as well as jazz standard arrangements.
